Biography:

Kui Zhao is a Professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He serves as Vice President of the Guild Hall Committee of the China Cultural Relics Society (中国文物学会会馆专业委员会), a Standing Council Member of the Architectural History Branch of the Architectural Society of China, and Deputy Director of the Characteristic Villages and Towns Conservation and Revitalization Committee of the National Architecture Institute of China. He has also been a visiting scholar at Harvard University and the University of Florida and is an international member of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). Professor Zhao has been engaged in architectural education and practice for many years, with research interests in traditional architecture and heritage conservation, ecological architecture, and regional architecture. He has completed numerous architectural and planning projects, receiving multiple provincial-level awards. He has led one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) General Program project, one Humanities and Social Science Fund project from the Ministry of Education, and two National Publication Fund projects. Additionally, he has participated in two NSFC General Program projects. His academic contributions include the publication of 23 books and over 70 research papers in core journals. His architectural and planning projects have won three international gold awards and nine awards at the provincial and ministerial levels.
